“Health literacy is the degree to which individuals have the capacity to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services needed to make appropriate health decisions.” (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Healthy People 2010)
Literalth is an appropriate title for this blog because many of us know what Health is, many of us know what Literacy is, and perhaps we even know what Health Literacy is. However, this word “Literalth” explains the limbo stage of being a health literate. We’re all struggling to keep up with accessing the right information to make informed decision, processing this information in a coherent manner, and truly understanding what is presented to us so we can make the right choices. So, the word “Literalth” encompasses the struggle of becoming a health literate and clearly defining the term “Health Literate.”
